Except for Fernandel, critics were negative when the movie came out.

“Le Coq du Régiment” belongs to the barracks room humor, and usually I also don’t like this genre, but this very one, I simply adored it…

A series of misunderstanding is the conducting thread of that forgotten burlesque comedy.

The story is about a lieutenant, nicknamed “the Rooster of the Regiment”, a married man, who just can’t help running after any woman passing around, and one of his friend, who always has “good ideas” to give him a hand to come out of “ubuesque” situations.

Fernandel, for once, doesn’t shine more than the other actors, because they are all very good…
