    Bank robber Takashi and his partner in crime have been targeting banks across the country and they agree to do one more job before they can flee to Brazil. Unfortunately the heist does not go as planned and Takashi’s partner is killed by a car during the escape. On the run from the cops, Takashi picks up a girl from a bar called Michi who has a bit of a mental problem. Although he says that he’ll take her with him to Brazil, he has no intention of doing that and will dump her before he leaves the country.     A 1978 Japanese space opera film directed by Kinji Fukasaku. The film stars Sonny Chiba, Etsuko Shihomi, and Vic Morrow. The film was produced by Toei and cost between the equivalent of USD $5-6 million, the most expensive movie made in Japan up to that time.

    In this Star Wars take-off, the peaceful planet of Jillucia has been nearly wiped out by the Gavanas, whose leader takes orders from his mother (played by a comic actor in drag) rather than the Emperor.     Sawaki is released from prison after serving eight years for murdering a rival gang leader in order to obtain the land rights to a landfill for the Kotaki clan and he discovers that the world has changed significantly in that time. The police have forced the disbanding of all yakuza groups in and around Tokyo and most of the former yakuza have moved on to legitimate jobs while the low-level thugs have returned to their former gangs. Shimamura, a former executive of the Kotaki clan, has become the president of a construction company that built an oil complex on the landfill and now intends to build another one as soon as they clear the inhabitants off of land owned by Dr. Omachi.
