My best guess is that John Waters produced the talent shows in his high school. There’s always been something cheerfully amateurish about his more personal films–a feeling that he and his friends have dreamed up a series of “skits” while hanging out together.

“Cecil B. Demented” takes this tendency to an almost unwatchable extreme, in a home movie that’s like a bunch of kids goofing off.Read More »

  • Adrian Lyne – Lolita (1997) (HD)

    Quote:
Humbert Humbert, a British professor coming to the US to teach, rents a room in Charlotte Haze’s house, but only after he sees her 14-year-old daughter, Dolores (Lolita), to whom he is immediately attracted. Though he hates the mother, he marries her as this is the only way to be close to the girl, who will prove to be too mature for her age. They start a journey together, trying to hide they’re not just (step)father and daughter, throughout the country, being followed by someone whom Humbert first suspects to be from the police. The profound jealousy, and maybe some guilt from the forbidden love, seem slowly to drive the man emotionally labile.Read More »

    1991-2000CrimeDramaLee TamahoriUSA

This film is about the adventures of a 1940’s special anti-gangster police squad in Los Angeles, the infamous ‘Hat Squad.’ The four members of this squad are big, tough, no-nonsense cops who don’t hesitate to break the law, if it suits their purposes. When a local woman is murdered, their investigation turns up the fact that she had been romantically linked to several prominent men and had secret films taken of her liaisons. Since one of those men is the powerful U.S. Army General at the head of the then-new Atomic Energy Commission and another is the (married) leader of the Hat Squad, complications ensue. The FBI even gets involved in an attempted cover-up.Read More »

    From Allmovie:
A wildly inventive and entertaining comic nightmare from former Roger Corman prodigy Jonathan Demme (The Silence of the Lambs), this screwball odyssey is a ride to remember. Jeff Daniels plays clean-cut New York bond trader Charlie Driggs, who accepts a ride home from a strange but attractive lower-class woman named Lulu (Melanie Griffith). The sexy Louise Brooks lookalike doesn’t take him home, but shanghais him for a bizarre roadtrip to Virginia that includes kinky bondage sex, destruction of property, and robbery. Things get stranger when Lulu tells Charlie that her real name is Audrey and takes him home to meet her mother, asking him to pose as her husband.Read More »
