Yet another of Franco’s variations on De Sade’s PHILOSOPHY IN THE BOUDOIR. While it lacks the star power and scope compositions of DE SADE 70 and the hardcore grunginess of COCKTAIL SPECIAL, EUGENIE 80 is one of Franco’s best works of the eighties and has the elegance of the Harry Alan Towers production and is satisfyingly explicit without being XXX. Eugenie (Katja Bienert) is on vacation with her family (the resort is the same ornate building used in SHE KILLED IN ECTASY and THE PERVERSE COUNTESS) and is noticed by a decadent couple who seduce her parents in order to initiate Eugenie into their games of perversion. SYNOPSIS:
The life of a private eye in Spain is very different from the one surrounded by blondes and booze that we see in movies. Especially if the detective in the case is our hero Alfredo Pereira, who divides his time between his more or less scandalous cases in the most luxurious and international corner of the Costa del Sol, and his unsual private life. His private life is called Flavia, and it must be admitted she is a blonde, with huge blue eyes. The thing is, she is seven years old and the daughter of our detective, who was given custody of her when he divorced his wife. A new case puts Pereira in contact with a beautiful woman, Eva Radeck, the wife of a foreign financier. Their story is going to perhaps take up too much of Alfredo Pereira’s time as the investigation takes on increasingly sombre tints of hatred, vengeance and death. Pereira, who is only tough on the outside, gets caught in the web spun by the seductive Eva and becomes an innocent party in the case, while continuing to be Flavia’s soft-hearted daddy. Jess Franco plays himself in this sly comedy in which he is engaged in directing another erotic film while the subject of his previous film, private detective Al Pereira, attempts to relate to the eccentric film making process of Jess Franco. Pereira also has difficult relationships with his son and women in general, illustrated in various amusing vignettes. The story is set amongst jungle tribes that live in fear of the devil. Laura Crawford is a model who gets kidnapped by a gang of thugs whilst working in South America. They take her into the jungle and demand a huge ransom. Laura is guarded by some ridiculous looking native who calls himself “The Devil” and has to go through all manner of unpleasantries until the gang get their ransom. Chained maidens are offered in supplication and the devil demonstrates eating pussy in a grossly excessive literal manner. Private eye Al Crosby is paid by millionaire Harry Feldman to take his place at a meeting with Emilio, a gangster. He is drugged and photographed in compromising positions by two hookers, Suzy and Bijou, then he is nearly killed by Mrs. Feldman. Al tries to blackmail Mrs. Feldman, and he is beaten up by three women and forced to tell of Harry’s whereabouts, leading to Harry’s murder. Al enlists the help of Harry’s mistress, Coco, plus Suzy and Bijou whom Al gets out of prison, to expose Mrs Feldman as having inherited money by devious ways and being a brothel owner.
