Georges Dufaux – À votre santé (1974)

Here’s a wonderful example of the high standards quality of the Canadian production of the Film Office, whatever the destination of the film is : in this case, a TV movie.
If you have seen Frederick Wiseman’s Hospital, here’s a complementary view on the restless activity, and consequently accidents, generated by big cities that end into the Emergency rooms of public hospitals.
The film begins with litlle scratches, almost imaginary ones, people who come from themselves, worried for themselves or their kids. Then it grows in intensity with more and more serious wounds, preparing us little by little to face death and finally letting us with this feeling of a restless flow of urban tragedies, unresolved that is only dealt by some sort of saints, unaware of their holiness, because they’re just doing their jobs the most humanly they can, which in the end could be a definition of holiness proposed by the film by ‘accident’…
