Quote:
Istanbul Tales is a film which tells five interconnected stories set in modern-day Istanbul based on the fairy tales Snow White, Cinderella, Pied Piper, Sleeping Beauty and Little Red Riding Hood. The film, which went on nationwide general release on 11 March 2005, won several awards including Best Film at the 24th International Istanbul Film Festival.
The Guardian wrote:
The latest in a recent stream of the more commercial end of Turkey’s film output, that presumably is relying on a committed immigrant community audience here.
This offering – a parcel of interlinked stories set in the city of the title – is a lot better than the home-country hit GORA, released a few weeks back. As you might expect with so many directors involved, the quality is patchy, and the musical score digs you in the ribs at times. But it’s always watchable.
